“THE PERFECTION OF THE IMPERFECT”

ABOUT
My name is HUIYA ZHANG. I will be graduating from the London College of Fashion in Womenswear soon. I have extensive experience in the fashion industry and have worked for several fashion design brands such as Susan Fang, Yuhan Wang, and Marchen Studio. Influenced by different independent designer brands such as Simone Rocha and Susan Fang, I have explored new ways of innovation in clothing silhouettes and fabrics. From January to March 2023, I did a short-term fashion design internship at independent designer brand Susan Fang, and my exploration of fabrics was deeply influenced by Susan Fang's use of unique materials. By breaking the application of traditional materials, I have expounded my unique visual language for the clothing series through the Main Collection of "Imperfect Perfection".
I have a strong interest in the innovation of clothing colors and textile fabrics, as well as the craftsmanship of clothing pattern-making and draping. I am eager to apply the skills I have learned to my Main Collection project.
After graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2024, I will launch my eponymous brand HUIYA ZHANG. The fabrics of this series mainly focus on nylon fabrics and different filling technologies. Each series combines different textile fabrics to convey the softness of clothing, thereby breaking the imbalance in the pursuit of perfection and creating clothing and accessories with artistic originality.
HUIYA ZHANG is inspired by breaking imperfections and finding a comfortable environment. The brand focuses on exploring different filling materials and conducting in-depth research on different ways of cutting and pattern-making in this series.

CONCEPT：
This collection will emphasize that people break traditional technology through the pursuit of extreme perfection, the extreme imperfection of self-requirements, and the unbalanced and helpless design methods of individuals.
MANIFESTO：
Breaking the imbalance of perfect things in accepting imperfections, and pursuing a state of perfection is a reality. This collection breaks traditional clothing through individual imbalance and comfortable design methods, and explores the series in combination with traditional down clothing. Humans demand extreme imperfections from themselves, and imperfections are reflected by integrating seams and structural imperfections. By using comfortable fabrics, such as soft down fibers, a comfortable environment is found through fabrics to convey softness, stability and protection. Clothing uses nylon fabric, a material for sportswear, such as down/quilted. HUIYA ZHANG's brand positioning is mainly in the luxury Independent Designer Band, targeting the female group aged 20-40.
BRAND LOGO
At the beginning of the establishment of a new website, I need to try to create a website for my graduation project, so the logo will match my new series. This logo is designed to integrate my name.
The design of the brand logo is mainly based on the conversion of the initials "Z" and "H" of my name into the logo of my personal website, and the English letters of the Chinese name are used to design it.

First of all, the concept of my graduation project is to put people in a comfortable state in the process of pursuing perfection. So in my understanding, I need to reflect an unbalanced state. First of all, through discussions with ZHIWEIWANG (Photographer), I extracted elements and determined to use hemp rope and glass fragments as the main visual props. At the same time, in terms of lighting design, it is ensured that there is a clear distinction between the highlights and the top of the picture, and the decoration also shows imbalance and entanglement. Finally, in terms of composition, I try to supplement the dynamics of the model's whole body. In fact, the photo is in an unbalanced and entangled state, echoing the theme of the scene props.
CONCEPT:
It emphasizes that people break the traditional technology through the imperfection of themselves and the imbalance and helplessness of individuals in the pursuit of perfection.
CLOTHING FITTING
During the process of my shooting cooperation, the original six sets of clothes were re-matched to integrate the matching of the entire series.
EVALUATION
The communication in the cooperative shooting of this graduation project made this shooting cooperation very smooth. I demonstrated the concept of the graduation project by showing the final garments of the shooting of the graduation project.
